Caaguazú
The Cordillera de Caaguazú extends throughout the department from north to south. It is made up of the mountain ranges of San Joaquín, in San Joaquín and Yhú; Tajao Paú and Carayaó; and Caaguazú, between Carayaó and Coronel Oviedo. Peak heights are no more than 200 meters, but to the east elevations reach 250 meters.

Ypacaraí Lake is located in the Salado River Basin, a low-elevation point. The area of the lake is about 90 km2 (35 sq mi). It is 24 km (15 mi) long north-south and 6 km (3.7 mi) long east-west. The average depth of the water is roughly 1.72 metres (5.6 ft).

La Colmena

It is at the northern foot of the Cerro Apitagua, a 25-mile east–west ridge formed by volcanic activity. The steep ascent reaches an altitude of 2,000 feet above sea level in some places. La Colmena is located along the relatively gentle slopes that are between 100 and 400 feet above sea level.
